NIGERIA, again, succumb to one of Africa’s high-flying female cricket side, Namibia in the semi finals of the Kwibuka T20 Cricket tournament in Rwanda.

Nigeria lost by 91 runs on Friday at the Gahanga International stadium, Kigali, after losing to same team by eight wickets on Monday.

The West African side made an impressive performance on Thursday against Botswana, winning by three wickets but couldn’t sustain same fighting spirit against the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranked 23rd team.

Namibia won the toss and elected to field.

They scored 156 runs for the loss of two in 20 overs. Great performance by Yasmeen Khan whose 78 runs off 53 balls, including four boundary hits and two over-the-boundary hits.

Teammate Kayleen-Ann Green also recorded 29 runs in 25 balls to help drive home more runs for the Southern African side.

Meanwhile, Namibia’s Sylvia Shihepo and Victoria Hamunyela limited Nigeria’s chance to score runs as both contributed to the exit of four wickets, two each.

Their fielding ability showed no mercy as Nigeria, ranked 41,  struggled to finish with 65 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Namibia will wait for the winner of the second semi finals match between Kenya and Rwanda, to determine their opponent for the finals on Saturday. (NAN)
