AN Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 21-year-old tailor Francis Adeniyi, who allegedly defiled a seven-year-old girl.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Kubeinje, who refused to take the plea of the accused, adjourned the case until March 28.

Adeniyi, a resident of Ajiboye Street, Alapere, Lagos, is facing a two- count charge of indecent sexual assault and defiling a minor.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the girl’s mother (names withheld) reported the case at the Alapere Police Station, on Jan. 18.

Ihiehie said that the complainant came back from work and discovered her daughter bleeding from her private part.

“She took her to the hospital where it was confirmed that her private part had been tampered with.

“The girl told the police that the accused, who owns a tailoring shop in their compound, dragged her to the bathroom.

“He removed her pant and forced his penis into her vagina and anus; and then asked her to go home,” the prosecutor said.

He said that the offences contravened sections 137 and 265(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
