THE Taraba Government on Tuesday says it is targeting N3 billion annually from tourism to boost its overall revenue generation.

Mr Joseph Nagombe, the Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism, made the disclosure at the Gov. Agbu Kefas ongoing interactive session with Taraba critical stakeholders within Abuja and its environs on Wednesday in Abuja.

Nagombe noted that the Kefas administration has revived the tourism sector by resuscitating the popular Nwonyo International Fishing Festival, World Tourism Day Celebration, and Febe Cultural Festival.

He explained that the facilities at the sites of these festivals were being improved on to attract more visitors to enable the state to earn good revenue in tourism.

“We are projecting N3 billion annually in tourism revenue when the upgrade of facilities at the various sites of the celebration of these festivals is completed.

“It is on record that the 2024 Nwonyo International Fishing Festival was adjudged the best in the country, and we are poised to do more in the subsequent ones,” he said.

The commissioner appealed to Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retired) to build a five-star hotel on the Mambilla Plateau, Sardauna Local Government Council, to boost tourism activities.

He urged investors to take advantage of the enabling environment provided by the current administration to invest in the tourism sector.
