Teenage scavenger  bags 3 months imprisonment for burglary, stealing

AN Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Monday sentenced a teenage scavenger, Ibrahim Waheed, 17,  to  three months imprisonment for burglary and stealing at Ifeleye market, Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ibrahim,  of unknown address, pleaded guilty to the charges  against him.

The Police charged the convict on three – count of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. A. Amole – Ajimoti found the convict guilty as charged after reading the judgment.

She sentenced him to three months imprisonment on each count of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

Amole – Ajimoti said the sentence would run concurrently.

Amole – Ajimoti, however, granted him an option  of five hours daily  community service  for three months.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olusegun Adegboye, told the court that on Oct. 25 at about 12: 00 a.m, the convict conspired  with others to burgle a shop at Ifeleye market, Ibadan.

Adegboye said the convict stole coils from six fans valued at N30, 000; five blender coils valued at N15, 000 and a Point of Sale machine  (POS) totaling N45, 000, property of one Mutiu Adedapo.

He said the offence contravened section 390(9), 413 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000. (NAN)
