An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo on Friday remanded a 16-year-old boy, Ayomide Wasiu to three months in Boastal Training Institution, Abeokuta for stealing valuables worth N92,000

The institution is a place where juvenile offenders are remanded and given both educational and vocational training to rehabilitate and reform them before reintegration into society.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Somefun, sentenced Wasiu after he pleaded guilty to the offences.

Wasiu, who resides at Ita-Shagbeyin Street in Saje area of Abeokuta, was tried on two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP. Olakunle Shonibare told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 16, about 8p.m at Oja-Agbo area in Abeokuta.

Shonibare said the convict burgled the shop of one Mr Adeloyo Olabode, and stole 44 door handles valued N66,000 and 13 containers of engine oil valued 26,000, all worth N92,000.

The prosecutor said the convict, who packed the stolen items into a sack, was accosted by neighbours but he could not give a reasonable answer to how he got the items and he was arrested.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 413 and 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
