
Teenager docked over alleged unlawful entry, stealing

AN 18-year-old Tope Owoeye, was on Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged unlawful entry and stealing.
Owoeye, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of unlawful entry and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 23 at about 11:00 a.m at C&S Church, off Cele Road, Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti.
Leramo alleged that the defendant unlawfully entered into the Church through the window.
He alleged that the defendant stole seven pieces of hand ring bells valued at N31, 500 belonging to Prophetess Famodimu Jokotade.
He said the offences contravened Sections 322 and punishable under section 295 and 302(1) (A) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Benjamin Aladesuyi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N25, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until May 8 for hearing.(NAN)
