Three arraigned for chanting war songs in Osun palace

THREE people have been arraigned by the police before Osun State magistrates’ Court in Osogbo for chanting war songs at the palace of the Alawo of Awo.

The suspects, Adebayo Akinsilo, 40, Oloyede Sikiru, 46, and Oloyede Habib, 28, were charged with felony, conspiracy, breach of the public peace and threat to life.

The police prosecutor, John Idoko, told the court that the defendants on August 26 at about 10am invaded the palace of Awo, chanting war songs with intent to dethrone the Alawo of Awo, Oba Abdulrazaq Taiwo Adebooye.

He added that the suspects were armed with machetes, axes, charms and other dangerous weapons, and threatened to kill Oba Abdulrazaq Taiwo Adegboye and did unlawfully conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

The case was adjourned till October 12.
