ABDULRASHEED Bawa, chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been suspended indefinitely by the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to a press release made available to Realnews and signed by Willie Bassey, director, Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, on Wednesday, June 14, Tinubu approved the suspension of Bawa to allow for a proper investigation into his conduct while in office following weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

The statement reads: “Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, Mohammed Umar, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”
