FORMER Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, on Sunday revealed that his relationship with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, influenced his administration’s performances between 2003 and 2011 in the state.

Daniel, who is the APC senatorial candidate Ogun East, said the relationship played huge roles in the majority of the projects he executed during his tenure.

He spoke at his mega empowerment programme held at Sagamu, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The event attracted Tinubu, who was represented by Wale Edun; Former Minister of Defence (State), Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, two former Ogun Deputy Governors, Salimot Badru, Yetunde Onanuga, Senator Gbenga Kaka, members of the State House of Assembly, three time gubernatorial candidate, Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka among others.

Daniel better known as OGD said, as promised during his campaigns, his administration had reawaken “the sweeping giant of the state”, through different projects executed for eight years in office.

He also declared his backing for Tinubu to emerge President next year.

“When we came on board in 2003, we said Ogun State was a land we called a sleeping giant and we said our mission was to wake up that sleeping giant.

“Let me confess that a lot of those things that I came to implement in Ogun State was because of my relationship with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“You know what we did, it is not only in Ogun East that we worked, we worked in Ogun West and you saw them saying so, we worked in Ogun Central, but there are certain things that God enabled us to commence in Ogun State, one of them is the international airport.

“I agree that a lot people who are now to trying to be president are very qualified, but Tinubu is our own”, Daniel said

In his remarks, Edun recalled that Tinubu and Daniel’s relationship dated back to 1999 when the former contested Lagos State governorship.

He said OGD donated his Kresta Laurel building in Lagos to Tinubu as a campaign office in 1999.

“Asiwaju asked me to tell you that if you want better Nigeria, vote him as President and OGD as Ogun East Senator,” he told the gathering.

Daniel served his two terms as governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
