PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu says his administration is dedicated to providing more modern equipment and resources to the Nigeria Police Force to enable it discharge its responsibilities more effectively.

“We are also embarking on a massive recruitment drive into the Police Force aimed at empowering our youth to participate in national security efforts’’, Tinubu said.

Tinubu said this on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of 478 students of Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

The president urged graduands to adhere strictly to the ethics of modern policing in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasised the importance of shunning corruption and upholding the highest level of professionalism.

He expressed confidence that the officers had received enough training, both academically and professionally, to make a positive impact on the country’s security architecture.

Tinubu assured that the Federal Government would continue to support the academy, which he described as one of the best training grounds for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The president charged the new officers to prioritise the nation’s interests and discharge their constitutional responsibilities and to work dedication and commitment.

He also appealed to them to remain vigilant and uphold the ideals of the police, focusing on effective service delivery.

“As you graduate today, you are not just receiving a certificate, but also becoming ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Service.

“I charge you to discharge your primary duties with compassion, integrity, and professionalism.

“Remember that you are the face of the police service, and your actions will reflect on the institution and the nation as a whole.

“Go forth and serve with honor, dignity, and respect for all Nigerians. Congratulations on your graduation”, Tinubu charged the graduands.

Earlier, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, said the 478 graduands had been equipped with essential policing knowledge to enhance the security situation in the country.

In line with the college’s high standards, 17 programmes offered by the academy have been accredited by the National Universities Commission.

“I commend the Federal Government for its significant investment in these graduates, which has paved the way for today’s graduation ceremony’’, he said.( NAN)
