A 35-year old trader, Olujimi Ayenuro, was on Thursday arraigned in Okitipupa, Ondo State, for alleged stealing of electrical appliances worth N100,000.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a three-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that Ayenuro committed the offences at 11.30 p.m. on Sept. 20.

Orogbemi said that the defendant burgled the house of Mr Gabriel Aladetan on Okitipupa-Irele Road in Okitipupa.

He added that the defendant stole from Aladetan, a Sony video player and an LG Plasma television, both worth N100,000, in contravention of Sections 412, 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Chris Ojuola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety in like sum.

Ojuola directed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present evidence of two years’ tax payment to the state government.

He adjourned the case until Oct. 27 for hearing. (NAN)
