Trader docked for assaulting neighbour

A 42-year-old trader, Okhomina Jospeh, who allegedly beating up her neighbour, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged defendant, who resides in Ogba, Lagos, with assault and causing breach of the peace.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Clifford Ogu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 17 at 46, Yaya Abatan St., Ogba.

Ogu said the defendant and the complainant, Mrs Juliana Egwu, both sell their wares in the same market.

He said that the defendant beat up the complainant, broke a bottle and attempted to stab her.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 168 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate S. K. Matepo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Matepo adjourned the case untill July 26 for mention. (NAN)
