A Magistrates’ Court in Jos, on Thursday sentenced a 19-year -old trader, Ahmad Umar, to two years  imprisonment for stealing N361.000 belonging to a gas station.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, after listening to the accused’s plea, summarily sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine.

Bokkos said the sentence would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 7, at the “A” Division Police Station by one Cecelia Ali.

Gokwat said that the convict entered into the room where the money was kept, and was caught while committing the crime.
