The Anambra Council of Traditional Prime-Ministers has called on Ndigbo to always take pride in their rich cultural heritage to save it from going into extinction.

The council made the call on Monday in its resolution after its meeting held at Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area of the State.

The council charged parents of Igbo extraction to always inculcate Igbo customs and tradition in their children as part of efforts to preserve the Igbo heritage.

It also canvassed scholarship schemes to be instituted for indigent children of Ndigbo by philanthropists to secure a bright future for them.

The president of the council, Chief Anthony Enukeme, said that Igbo people should embrace farming and other arts associated with the race to keep it alive for generations to come.

He said that when the people engage in farming, it would ensure food security and economic independence for them.

Also, the Secretary-General of the council, Chief Joe Nwegwu, advised that Igbo people should be so proud of their culture and language.

Nwegwu said that Igbo people should uphold the values of their fore fathers and pride in its activities that brought great fortunes to the race.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the council also commended Gov. Willie Obiano for his administration’s efforts to transform the state through quality and result oriented governance.

It appealed to the residents of the state to continue to support Obiano’s led administration for the development of the state.

The council also paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of Anambra as it clocked 27 years following its creation in 1991.

It described the achievements recorded by the state so far as huge. (NAN)
