Ibrahim Bayero, District Head of Sumaila in Kano State, has urged youths to respect constituted authority and channel their energy toward building a progressive society.
Bayero gave the advice at the presentation of an award to Alhaji Ahmad Abdulazeez, National President, Presidential Support Coalition Initiative, an NGO, by the Arewa Students Forum, on Thursday in Abuja.
The traditional ruler also advised youths and students to be patriotic and work toward building a nation they would be proud of.
Bayero urged northern youths to continue to live peacefully with their neighbours, and commended the award recipient for his efforts to empower women in Kano State.
In a remark, Abdulazeez pledged to give more scholarships to members of the Arewa Students Forum to support their educational pursuit.
“I want to appreciate the apex body of northern Nigerian students for finding me worthy of recognition.
“This recognition will motivate me to double my support to students through scholarships. I urge you to continue to live in peace with other Nigerians wherever you are staying.
“Peace is priceless and non-negotiable; it is a necessary requirement for the development of any society,” he said.
He enjoined the leadership and members of the forum to contribute their quota to the development of the society and continue to support the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Earlier, the leader of the Forum, Zaharadeed Yahaya, had said that the award was in recognition of the recipient’s immense contributions to educational development in Kano State and other parts of northern Nigeria. (NAN)
