Transmission Company of Nigeria Generates 4883.9 Megawatts

THE Transmission Company Nigeria, TCN, will continue to strive to improve the transmission network capacity to deliver more quality power to the electricity distribution companies, Discos. The company gave the assurance when it announced the achievement of a new record peak generation of 4883.9 megawatts, MW, and the highest maximum daily energy delivery of 106,288.48 MW.

Dipak Sarma, managing director, System Operation/Market Operation, TCN, attributed the achievement to the improvement in the supply of gas to the power generating stations and enhanced cooperation among all the stakeholders.

According to Clement Ezeolisah, assistant general manager, Public Affairs, TCN, the new feat was achieved at 21.15 hours on November 23. The previous peak generation was 4810.7 mw attained on August 25, 2015. The previous highest maximum daily energy wheeled was 104,794.26 mw, attained on September 23, 2015.

Authorities have blamed incidents of sabotage, including vandalism of gas pipelines taking products to power plants, damage to electricity installations, and power theft for the perennial poor supply to consumers.
