THE National and state Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, October 9, nullified the election of Burji Kashamu, senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district, for non-compliance with electoral law.

Consequently, Justice Ebiowei Tobi, who headed the three- man panel tribunal, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a fresh election in 110 polling units in the Senatorial district within 90 days.

Dapo Abiodun, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, had challenged Kashamu’s victory in the March 28, National Assembly elections.

Kashamu contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
