A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Sanni Okanlawon has hailed President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal , describing the judgment as a win for democracy and the rule of law.

Okanlawon, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly made this known in his congratulatory message in Lagos on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday, upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the Feb. 25 presidential election.

The five-man panel of the Tribunal was led by Justice Haruna Tsammani.

This development followed petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate,  Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party and its candidate, Peter Obi.

They were challenging the victory of Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1.

Okanlawon, representing Kosofe I, noted that the tribunal’s decision had once again placed a legal seal on the mandate freely given to the president by Nigerians during  the presidential election.

He said: “On behalf of the good people of Kosofe constituency I, I join millions of Nigerians, members of our great party across the nation to congratulate the President on this well-deserved victory.

“The tribunal’s decision has once again placed a legal seal on the mandate freely given to the President by Nigerians.

“The verdict further confirms that majority of Nigerians have faith in the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to restore the nation’s grandeur in relation to infrastructure, economy, security, and societal well-being.”

Okanlawon appealed to all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, to support the President in his efforts to bring the country back to its former splendour, honour and prosperity. (NAN)
