Trio in court over theft of company property

THREE employees on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over the theft of their employer’s goods, worth N39.4 million.

The defendants are, Daniel Aniefok, 40, a sales representative; Olayinka Adejare, 34, sales manager; and Peace Ohaegbulam, 34, a cashier.

The trio, who reside in Lagos, are charged with conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between January 2023 and May 2024, at Royal Priesthood Electronics warehouse, Ayobo, Lagos.

The prosecutor said that the alleged theft was discovered during the company’s audit of its account books.

He listed the missing goods to include Air Conditioners, Smart TVs, LG fridges, generator sets, all valued N39, 488, 286 .93, property of their employer, Royal Priesthood Electronics.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1.5million each, with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Aug. 5, for mention.(NAN)
