Troops Make Progress Against Insurgents

TROOPS fighting against Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday, August 6, discovered street pile of lamps poles cut into pieces from which terrorist group were making improvised explosives devices, IED, in Dikwa, Borno State. According to a press statement signed by Sani Kukasheka Usman, a colonel and acting director Army Public Relations, the discovery was made while combing and clearing terrorists in and around Dikwa.
Similarly, at Jehu near Jakana, troops arrested Mai Mustapha, a suspected fuel supplier to Boko Haram terrorists, and Madu who was coordinating buying of food items from neighbouring villages for the terrorists.
In another operation, the troops of the 7 Division Garrison recovered 15 cows, 174 goats and a donkey from rustlers, during a cordon and search operation in Jakana village. The military said that the animals had been handed over to their identified legitimate owners. It also said that the rustlers were apprehended and were currently undergoing investigation.
Also, early Friday morning, the Nigerian troops blocked elements that attacked Dumbuluwa village in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State and had encounter with the terrorists. The gallant soldiers killed eight of the terrorists, while two vigilantes were wounded by IED fragments.
