Truck ploughs into Japanese school kids, killing 2 – Reports

TWO elementary school children were killed and three others injured after a truck ploughed into them on a rural road in Japan on Monday, according to a reports.

The 60-year-old driver of the truck was arrested at the scene by the Police in the Yachimata city, the Kyodo news agency reported.

According to broadcaster NHK, his truck first smashed into a power pole and then hit the group of kids on their way home from school.

The narrow road, on which the accident took place, runs between fields and there was no pavement on which pedestrians can walk along. (dpa/NAN)
