Tunisian FM vows to strengthen cooperation with AU development agency

TUNISIAN Foreign Minister, Nabil Ammar, has vowed to strengthen the common and efficient African action and further bolster the institutions of the African Union.

According to a statement by the Tunisian foreign ministry, Ammar held a meeting with Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD)

During the meeting Ammar reiterated Tunisia’s commitment to strengthen its cooperation with the agency, the statement said.

It added that it was Tunisia’s wish to benefit from the diverse programmes and projects undertaken by AUDA-NEPAD.

Ammar also underlined the important role of the agency in mobilising resources to support member states and African regional organisations in implementing development projects, as well as providing consultation services and technical assistance.

On her part, Bekele-Thomas outlined the agency’s most important projects underway across the African continent and highlighted various initiatives launched by the agency.

She also expressed the agency’s willingness to explore ways to enhance cooperation with Tunisia, the statement said.  (Xinhua/NAN)
