U-20 WWC: Edo can host any world championship – Dudu-Orumen

THE Chairman of Edo Sports Commission, Godwin Dudu-Orumen, on Tuesday assured Nigerians and the world that the state could host any world championship.

He gave the assurance in Benin as the state prepared to host the five-member inspection team from the world football governing body, FIFA.

Dudu-Orumen also told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Gov. Godwin Obaseki’s administration was determined to develop sports in Edo.

He said: “Obaseki is determined to develop sports for the development of the people, youths and young adults. We have facilities in place to present to the FIFA inspection team that will arrive from Lagos later today, we are prepared for it.

“We have things showing the capacity of Edo hosting any world championship. The team will pay a courtesy call on governor Obaseki, after which we conduct them round the facilities. We guarantee the hosting of the 2020 U-20 Women’s World Cup.”

NAN reports that while in Benin, the FIFA inspection team is expected to visit the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium; University of Benin Training site; Edo Central Hospital and Western Boys College training site. (NAN)
