UIU holds Annual Award Ceremony, solicits support for indigent members

THE Umuoji Women Association, UIUN Women Wing, Enugu Branch, held its annual award ceremony on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Parish, Uwani, Enugu.
The event, which was attended by dignitaries including the Chairman of the Occasion, Pharm Ben Onuora Obiakor, and representatives of the Regent of Umuoji and the President General of UIUN, recognised and honoured deserving members of the association.
In her address, the President of UIUN Women Wing, Enugu Branch, Anthonia Ejenike, highlighted the association’s commitment to charitable causes, particularly supporting indigent members.
Ejenike noted that the association has been visiting motherless babies’ homes, poor and elderly people’s homes, prisons and providing support to indigent members. She emphasized that the association’s resources are limited and therefore, solicited the support of well-meaning individuals and organizations to enable the association to continue their charitable work.
The association also used the occasion to launch a fundraising campaign to support its charitable projects, including securing a permanent meeting place and providing financial assistance to indigent members.
The event was well-attended by dignitaries like the Chairman of the Occasion, Ben Onuorah Obiakor, the Regent of Umuoji and PG UIUN both represented by the BOT Akala quarter, Edwin I. Ejenike, J Okafor, represented by the HOD Civil Litigation Department, Ikye Ezenwukwa.
The association expressed it’s gratitude to all the dignitaries who supported the association at the occasion.
