MR Uchenna Orji, Ebonyi Commissioner for Information and State Orientation on Thursday in Abakaliki applauded the achievements of the state government in infrastructural development.
Orji stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) saying that Gov. Dave Umahi’s achievements in roads infrastructure, human capital development, accountability and transparency in governance remained unequalled.
He said that Umahi’s prudence in fiscal management, coupled with his commitment to the human and infrastructural development of the state had led to the massive transformation of the social and economic lives of people of the state.
”The many life-changing physical infrastructural projects conceived and built by the administration had opened up the state for tourism.
”they had also lifted the state from social and economic doldrums as well as launched it into one of the fastest developing states in Nigeria,” Orji said.
Orji, who was a former member of the Ebonyi House of Assembly for the Ivo state constituency, said the achievements of Umahi had placed the state Ebonyi among the frontline states.
He state that the administration had built about 16 flyover bridges located across the different parts of the state including that at ‘Inyere’ hill in Ekoli Edda of Afikpo South Local Government Area.
” The administration embarked on aggressive construction and reconstruction of urban and rural roads across the state.
” The Ebonyi Airport project; the King David University of Medical Sciences, at Uburu, the Ebonyi Shopping Mall, and the Ecumenical Centre, among others are some of the landmark physical projects started and completed on record time by the administration,” Orji said.
He said that Umahi’s records had marked him out as ”one of the world-class leaders whose leadership is worthy of immortalisation.
“Ebonyi under Umahi had witnessed the fastest development recorded ever in Africa within the shortest record time.
“Ebonyi recorded a transformation boom difficult to be beaten by any single administration in Africa.”
Orji said that in Ebonyi, projects were started and completed ”like a miracle and no wasteful ceremony to mark project take off and inauguration.
“When some leaders have no political will to stop waste and corruption, Umahi has the moral temerity and political will to stop waste, corruption and leakages of resources.
“While project execution has been completely halted in some climes, Ebonyi government under Umahi stands tall in the delivery of the dividends of democracy.
”This he will continue to do and get properly anchored on May 29, 2023.”
On security, the commissioner said that Umahi had kept faith in the oath he swore to protect the lives and property of the people of the state as a key mandate of government.
“When insecurity and sit-at-home overwhelmed many state governments in the South-East, the government ensured that lives and property of the citizenry were adequately protected as Ebonyi remains one of the most secured and peaceful states in Nigeria.
“Umahi’s infrastructural revolution in Ebonyi and his developmental legacy will continue to resonate and be felt by all, even by future generations,” he added. (NAN)
