THE Umuoji Law Society has described the murder of Sly Onyima, Ichie Ogidi, President General, Umuoji Improvement Union, as a huge loss to the community.

In a statement signed by Remi Obiora Nweze, Chairman, Umuoji Law Society, called on the security agencies to immediately begin an extensive investigation with a view to unearthing those responsible for the abominable act.

The statement also described Ichie Ogidi as a man of big ideas and an unassuming personality.

“Ichie Ogidi faced challenges head on without procrastination leading to various developmental projects littered all over the community courtesy of his doggedness and a testament of his tenacity of purpose.  Chief among the projects was the Community Centre nicknamed ‘The Whitehouse’ an imposing edifice erected in a record time of less than 7 months.

“We received this news with a lot of shock and disbelief given that just a few months back saw UMUOJI celebrate its arguably the safest Christmas Vacation ever by the community in recent times.

“We extend our condolences to the Onyima family, Umuobia Village, The Igwe-In- Council Umuoji and Umuoji Improvement Union of Nigeria , we pray The Great Architect of the Universe to grant all of us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement said.

Ogidi’s brutal murder occurred in the late hours of Friday 23rd of February, 2024, but was eventual confirmation the next day.
