BERNARD Otudola, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unboxx Boxing Promotions, on Friday assured that Lagos sports fans would on Sunday witness a boxing extravaganza like never seen before.

Otudola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that he was proud to finally put the event together after many years of its being in the works.

He said he was focussed on it because of his belief that home-grown talents must be given more platforms to showcase their talents.

”This is in order to have a world boxing title contender as soon as possible,” Otudola said.

He disclosed that the boxing extravaganza would come up at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos, with the weigh-in ceremony billed for Ikeja on Saturday.

“It promises to be a day of serious boxing excitement as all contenders are ready to showcase their qualities.

“Boxers have been training all year round and, without an opportunity like this, their efforts may be in vain and frustration will then be the order of the day.

“So, I am so glad to realise my dream to organise this event for our local boxers to come and prove themselves.

”Boxing fans will definitely have a wonderful day of great boxing,” the promoter said.

NAN reports that bouts on the cards in the heavyweight division include those of Micheal “Odogwu” Ikechukwu against Tyson Jamiu and Farouk “Confidence” Abubakar against Gbenga Samson.

Jamiu Animashaun will also take on David Cosmos in this category.

In the lightweight division, Alaba “Elbow” Omotola will face Williams Eleshin, as Samuel “Apata Roro” Moses take on Raji Jamiu.

Onyeguwa “Escotee” Taiwo will also engage with Idowu Babatunde, while Hassan Kareem and Idris Easily will slug it out in their first pro-bout.

NAN reports that two female boxing bouts will also see Mary “Iron Lady” Abbey facing Ifeoluwa Ayorinde and Olamiposi Solomon taking on Shade Adeyanju.(NAN)
