Unemployed man in court for alleged stealing of phone

A 20- year-old man, Jamiu Abdulsalam, was on Friday charged at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a mobile phone, valued at N25,000.

The defendant, an unemployed man, who resides at 4, Idiaba St., Ilupeju, Lagos, is tried for stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Glory Goodday told the court that the offence was committed on June 26 at Ogunji Street, Ilupeju , Lagos.

Goodday said that the complainant, Mr Osinachi Ugbona, drop his phone with the defendant to help him download an ap.

He said that when the complainant went back to collect his phone, the defendant said it has been stolen.

The Prosecutor said that the value of the phone was N25,000.

The offence according to the prosecutor contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. O Odufuyi granted him bail in the sum of N5,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Odufuyi adjourned the case until Aug. 23 for mention .(NAN)
