Unemployed man in court for allegedly stealing N38,200

A 22-year-old unemployed, Akinola Fatai of no fixed address, who allegedly stole N38,200 was docked on Thursday at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos statem charge with stealing.

The prosecutor, Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug.5 at 5.20 p.m. at No. 3, Elizabeth St., Ijanikin; and at the Divine Bus Stop, Ijanikin, Lagos State, respectively.

According to the prosecutor, the stolen money belongs to two complainants: Birisiyu Ismaila and Ndubuisi Favour.

“The accused did steal the sum of N18,200 from Ismaila bet9ja shop and N20,000 from Favour bet9ja shop, totaling N38,200.

“The complainants caught and handed over the accused to the police,” Ikem said.

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge while the Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya admitted him to a bail of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

Adekomaiya has adjourned the case until Sept. 10 for further hearing. (NAN)
