Unemployed man jailed 1 year for stealing motorcycle

AN Ota Magistrates ‘ Court in Ogun on Friday sentenced a 37-year-old unemployed man, Akinlamilo Ifedayo, to one year imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle worth N750,000.
Ifedayo, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty to theft and conspiracy.
Delivering ruling, Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi, sentenced the convict to one year imprisonment without an option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, old the court that the convict and others at large, committed the offence between Feb.12 and Feb.28 at Onihale area in Ota.
Adaraloye said that the convict sold a motorcycle with registration number TTD 714 WM worth N750,000, which he collected on hire purchase from the complainant, Mr Sonibare Bamidele.
He said the convict lied to Bamidele that the motorcycle was stolen from him by armed robbers, knowing full well that was not true.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 390(8)(B) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun,2006.(NAN)
