UNICEF, SUBEB train 58 on schools management in Adamawa

THE Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Adamawa in collaboration with UNICEF Bauchi field office has begun a five days training for 58 master trainers on School Based Management Committee (SBMC) in Adamawa.

Speaking during the training, Mr Joel Jatum, Education Consultant UNICEF said that the master trainers were drawn from the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola and College of Education (COE) Hong.

According to him, the master trainers are going to train 100 SBMC’s established in Fufore, Guyuk, Hong, Michika, Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Area.

“The objective of the training is to prepare Mater trainers that will train SBMC’s in the 100 schools to steer their participation in school management and governance.

“This is because government and partners can not meet the increasing need of the schools; Therefore community and stakeholders have to take responsibility in providing quality education for the children”, he said.

Jatum further said that, UNICEF would support the 100 SBMC’s with grant for the implementation of their school improvement plan for safe learning environment and other projects.

Mrs Wilbina Jackson, Commissioner for Education commended the effort of UNICEF for the development of education in the state.

She urged the master trainers to pay attention to be able to train other members of SBMC’s in the befitting LGAs.

Jackson assured that the monitoring team would effectively monitor the step down training that will start on June 21 to 25.

In his remarks, Dr Salihi Ateequ, Board Chairman SUBEB represented by Board member II, Mr Adiel Kurda charged the participants to ensure they understand the training.

He advised them to ask relevant questions for clarification in areas they do not understand to enable them pass on the message successful (NAN)
