MR Moses Aja, President-General, Ishiagu Town Development Union (ITDU) on Wednesday applauded Ebonyi’s Gov. Dave Umahi for initiating infrastructural development programs across the state.

Aja gave the commendation when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ishiagu, Ivo local government area of Ebonyi.

He said that ITDU, a socio-cultural and non-partisan organization, had always been committed to uniting Ishiagu people at home and abroad toward improving the social and economic wellbeing of the community.

Aja said the governor had provided a lot of infrastructure in the town to alleviate the sufferings of the ordinary citizen.

He listed the projects to include the construction of roads, bridges, and a Central School and the provision of street lights in parts of the community, which he described as landmark achievements.

“Our governor, the ‘Ebube Agu’ of Ishiagu Town, has demonstrated love to Ishiagu through the many infrastructural projects he provided in our community.

“We applaud these developmental strides made by the governor, not only in Ishiagu community but also in many communities in Ebonyi which have improved the standard of living in the state.

“I want to urge individuals from the community seeking to plunge the town into another needless leadership crisis to desist from such uncharitable and unpatriotic adventure,’’ he said.

Aja also told NAN that the union would resist any attempt by unscrupulous people ardent at causing leadership crisis to destabilize the community

“The current ITDU leadership under my watch will not be deterred nor distracted by detractors and politicians seeking to destabilize our community.

“We trust that our governor remains focused in delivering democracy dividends to the people of the state and Ishiagu in particular and will not be part of illegality or violence of any sort,’’ Aja said.

He implored every member of the community to desist from planting seeds of discord and work towards building a greater Ishiagu community anchored on love, peace, and unity.

“We are a peace-loving people; we emphatically say ‘no’ to all forms of violence and any act that will engender crisis in our community.

“The recent communal crisis in Effium community is still fresh in our minds and the violent disturbances in Ishiagu in 2001/2002 still reverberate,’’ he stressed.

Aja, elected President-General of ITDU in September 2019, is expected to serve for three years ending in Sept. 2022. (NAN)
