AUTHORITIES of the Federal College of Education, Technical should consider catchment area in its appointments and admissions policy.
John Akanyeonu, president general, Umunze Progressive Union, made the appeal when he led the executive committee of the union to pay courtesy call on Theresa Okoli, the newly appointed provost, Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze.
“We have come to congratulate you on your deserved appointment and to present to you the issue of community benefits, especially in the area of employment slots, and transparent distribution of opportunity among communities within the Local Government Area.
According to him, the courtesy call has been as a result of the harmonious relationship existing between the town and your college.
Akanyeonu, said the union would at all times give maximum support to the college in order to further the smooth relationship between the community and the college.
He, however, restated that the town would no longer condone activities of bad eggs either from the town or the school who work to derail the progress of the system.
Responding, the provost thanked the entire members of the union and assured them of peaceful tenure that would attract positive development to the college.

The provost, then, thanked the Traditional Ruler of Umunze, Igwe Promise Eze, who had been supporting the institution, especially in the area of security.
She, however, appealed to the union to boost security, check students living within their community as well as control activities of the `bad eggs’ living among them.
