SUNDAY Oko, Itori Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun, has advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations to stem incessant road accidents.

Oko gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun on Tuesday.

He expressed concern that most motorists did not obey traffic rules and regulations “until they see the safety agencies on the road. “

“They only comply to traffic rules and regulations like the use of seat belts when they sight FRSC officers or other sister agencies from a distant.

“Motorists like to be taught on what to do as regards their safety and how to avoid unnecessary mishaps on roads, this is not good for their safety, “he said.

Oko, however, reiterated the corps’ commitment to ensure increased public enlightenment campaign in sensitising people on importance of safety.

He said that the corps would intensify its enlightenment on the radio and television as well as going to Churches, Mosques and market places to educate the public.

The unit commander said that grassroots campaign could not be neglected because it made youths to imbibe safety culture at tender age. (NAN)
