Update on Obi vs Tinubu's case at the presidential election tribunal

HEARING continued today at the Presidential Election Tribunal handling the case between Peter Obi and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, both candidates of Labour Party and All Progressives Congress, APC, respectively.

Forms EC8C were tendered for states including Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi,  Edo,  Lagos, Niger,  Ondo, Oyo, Rivers and Sokoto.

The documents were tendered after the justices were all seated and case was called up.

Form EC40G which is the record of what went wrong on election day was stepped down today. it will be presented on Thursday June 08.

Realnews reports that as usual, Peter Obi stood in for the petitioners himself and the Labour Party.

Saturday Monsiegne, who introduced himself as the deputy director Legal Services, APC represented the fourth Respondent (APC).

At the counsels’ corner, Obi and Labour Party were represented today by Livy Uzuokwu, SAN (Lead), Awa Kalu, SAN, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN,  Ben Anachebe, SAN, Ikechukwu Ezechukwu, SAN, Paul C. Ananaba, SAN, Valerie Azinge, SAN, Emeka Okpoko, SAN, Peter Afuba, SAN, Audu Anuga, SAN, Rita Garba and Vincent Otaokpukpu.

First Respondent, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was represented by Kemi Pinero, SAN (lead) Abdulahi Aliyu, SAN, Steven Adeye, SAN, T. M. Inuha, SAN, Wendy Koko, Chukwudi Enebeli, and Susan Imueze.

Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, both second and third respondents, respectively were represented by Wole Olanipekun, SAN (lead), Hakim Olujinmi, SAN, Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, Mike Ibokwe, SAN, Oladele Adesina, SAN, and P. Oladipo, SAN.

The fourth respondent, All Progressives Congress, was represented by  M. O. Fagbemi, SAN (lead), Charles Edosum,  SAN, Solomon Umoh, SAN,  Adeniyi Akintola, Afolabi Fashianu, Oluseye Obasonye and Prof Lawan.

Uzoukwu told the court that Obi and Labour Party will continue with tendering of forms EC8B from Ebonyi State.

The petitioners (Obi and LP) tendered 12 LGAs of forms EC8B from the bar while all the respondents, INEC, Tinubu, Shettima and APC) objected to them.

But the Haruna Tsammani-led Tribunal admitted all the forms EC8B from the 12 LGAs of Ebonyi State in evidence and marked them accordingly as exhibits.

Subsequently, the Tribunal asked for a two-minute recess to scribble things.
