Uzbekistan has registered 43,581 people living with HIV as of Nov. 1, while observing a stabilisation of the situation amid the COVID-19 epidemic, the country’s Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.
During the past 10 months, 1,483 new HIV cases were registered across the country, down by 55 per cent year-on-year, it added.
Currently Uzbekistan, with a population of 34 million, runs 78 HIV diagnostic laboratories and over 70 per cent of those infected are covered by antiretroviral therapy, according to the ministry.(Xinhua/NAN)
