Uzodimma congratulates Edo governor-elect, Okpebholo

THE Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and Imo Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has congratulated the Edo Governor-elect, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in Saturday’s poll.
Uzodimma’s felicitations is contained in a statement issued in Owerri by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ogwuwike Nwachukwu, and made available to newsmen on Monday.
He described Okpebholo’s victory as “resounding” and lauded the Edo people “for turning out en mass to cast their ballot for the governor-elect”.
According to him, the outcome of the Edo election was an affirmation of the people’s belief in the vision of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further stated that it demonstrated APC’s commitment to delivering sustainable development and progress in Edo, in particular, and Nigeria at large.
“Under the leadership of Okpebholo, I am confident that Edo will experience a transformative era of growth and prosperity, reflecting the core ideals of our party.
“This victory is not just a win for our party, but the entire state and nation as we continue to strive for a better and more progressive Nigeria.
“Congratulations once again, and may your tenure bring unprecedented progress to the people of Edo,” Uzodimma stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 247,274 votes.
The candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Olumide Akpata, came third with 22,763 votes. (NAN)
