THE Suntan Beach in Badagry, Lagos State, on Wednesday recorded a large turnout of fun seekers who trooped out in large numbers to celebrate the Saint Valentine’s Day. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the fun seekers were mostly dressed in red and white attires.
Mr Temitope Adebayo, who came with his fiancee, noted that he was excited about the day. “Valentine’s Day is a day I always look forward to; it is a day I share with the people I cherish the most.
“I make sure I give my lover a gift to let her know that there is love in the air,” he said.
Mr Kehinde Tajudeen , a student, said that he received gifts from his girlfriend.
“I’m so excited about today as my girlfriend bought me a cake, perfume and a bottle of wine. So, we just came to the beach because of its serene environment to mark the day,” he said.
Mrs Amina Adeyanju, who came with her kids, noted that the day should be celebrated with the loved ones.
“I’m here with my kids because they are special to me; and this day should be celebrated with the loved ones.
“I’m glad to have wonderful people in my life and I can’t ask for anything else,” she said.
Mrs Busola Lawal, a soft drinks seller, said that business has been booming due to the large turnouts of people at the arena.
“Business has been booming because of the large turnout. I had to get more drinks because the ones I have weren’t enough for the customers,” she said.
Similarly, the Whispering Palm Resort, Iworo, Badagry, also witnessed a large turnout, as people celebrated the day at the resort.
Officials of the seaside resort told NAN that all the rooms were fully booked as couples were seen having a good time at various spots located at the premises.
Mr Deji Femi-Pearce, Chairman of the resort, attributed the large turnout to the various activities offered by the resort.
“We have different packages for different couples that are here to celebrate the St. Valentine’s Day; they are affordable, as we ensure flexibility.
“The serene environment here and its safety make people to patronise us despite the distance,” he said. (NAN)
