The Vice-Chancellor of Amadeus University, Amizi, Abia, has warned the pioneer students of the university against cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.

He issued the advice at the official opening of its campus and the inaugural matriculation ceremony on Saturday at Amizi in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

Nzotta said that  the university would deal decisively with any student involved in indiscipline, indecent dressing, poor attendance to classes, cybercrime and others under the institution’s rules and regulations.

He said that the campus boasts modern amenities, including a 250Kw solar farm for constant power supply, efficient internet facilities, and e-learning structures.

Nzotta said that the goal of the university was to produce self-reliant and globally competitive graduates ready for the 21st-century digital world.

In a speech, Dr Godwin Nwabunka, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasised the university’s mission: “With God, all things are possible.”

He described the university as a product of vision, hard work, and the believe that, “with God at the centre, no challenge is too great, and no dream is impossible to achieve.”

Nwabunka said that the university was not  just classrooms, lecture halls, hostels, and offices, but also a home for those who think outside the box and seek to make a difference in the world.

In a keynote speech, the Senate President, Mr Godswill Akpabio, said that the university was founded not for the mere passing on of information, but also for “the cultivation of minds that shall dream, dare, and do.”

Akpabio, who was represented by Sen. Austin Akobundu for Abia Senatorial  District, charged the matriculating students to think critically, act ethically and make meaningful contributions to the society.

The Governor of Abia, Dr Alex Otti, while congratulating the management and students of the university, said that he was particularly impressed by its milestone achievement.

Otti, represented by his Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, said that his administration remained committed to supporting individuals and groups involved in the development of education in the state.

Reports that no fewer than 40 pioneer students were formally  admitted into the university for the 2024/2025 academic session, during the ceremony.

The event commenced with an unveiling of the commemorative plaque, symbolising the formal opening of the university, guided tour of the campus, as well as a ceremonial tree planting.(NAN)
