VIETNAM targets to become a developing, upper middle-income country with per capita GDP reaching 7,500 U.S. dollars by 2030, according to a recent national master plan.

The country aimed  to have the service sector contribute to 50 per cent of the GDP and agriculture, forestry and fishing sector would account for only 10 per cent in the same year, the local media reported on Thursday.

The Southeast Asian country was expected to have an average GDP growth of seven per cent in the 2021-2030 period, according to the national master plan, which was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh early this week.

Also under the plan, which would be submitted to the National Assembly for approval, Vietnam sets an ambitious goal of reaching high-income status by 2050.

According to data from the World Bank, Vietnam’s per capita GDP increased from 95 U.S. dollars in 1990 to 3,694 dollars in 2021. (Xinhua/NAN)
