Visiting OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Barkindo is dead

THE visiting OPEC Secretary General, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo is dead.
According to a tweet by Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, NNPC Ltd, Barkindo’s sudden death occurred at about 11pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2022.
Barkindo was on Tuesday morning received by President Muhammadu Buhari on the delegation from the OPEC Secretariat.
He was also at the ongoing Nigeria’s oil and gas conference in Abuja, where he delivered a keynote address.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, had described Barkindo as a worthy ambassador of the country.
Until his death, Barkindo was the OPEC Secretary General and he was expected to conclude his two-tenure in office by the end of this month.
