THE Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex socio-political youth group in South East geopolitical zone has called on all electorates in Rivers State to vote out PDP by voting massively for the Labour Party, LP, Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates on 18 March, 2023

In a statement signed by Goodluck Ibem, it’s President General, it urged the electorates to use the March 18 election to make a bold statement to Governor Nyesom Wike, who it says  betrayed Nigerians through the despicable acts of upturning and rigging the Presidential election results clearly won by the LP, Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

It noted that Wike’s display of arrogance, intimidation and attacks on innocent Corp members and INEC officials is really unfortunate and goes a long way to tell Nigerians that he is unfit to be trusted with any public office or to support any course he has interest in.

It also urged the people to ignore the threats of the governor, who constantly parades himself as an emperor and show him that power belongs to the people.

Parts of the statement read:

“We want all residents to know that Rivers State is not a country of her own, but is a state in Nigeria and is govern by Nigerian laws and constitution, which clearly guarantees rights to citizens to vote candidates of their choice. President Muhammadu Buhari has openly told Nigerians to vote candidates of their choice in the elections and Governor Wike lacks the powers to dictate to anyone who to vote for in the elections.

“Governor Wike lacks the Constitutional powers to declare the property of anyone an abandoned property because he or she voted for candidates of his or her choice which is the constitutional rights and privilege of Nigerian citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. See such threat as an empty threat.

“We call on Igbos living in Rivers State to ignore the threat by Governor Wike to declare their properties as abandon property if they fail to vote for his PDP Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates on 18 March, 2023.

“We want all Igbos living in Rivers State to know that for Wike to call them for a meeting to threaten them to vote PDP, else he will declare their properties abandon property shows that he is afraid and frightened by their votes which will send him to prison if his PDP Governorship candidate who he wants to cover his looting spree losses in the elections.

“Governor Wike’s threat is just the last kick of a dying horse. He knows very well that he did nothing in Rivers State to command respect that will convince the people to vote for the PDP candidates that he is campaigning for. All his noise making and abracadabra will all end on May 29, 2023, which is just a few weeks away and he will be on the street like every other citizen in the state.

“We urge all Rivers residents living in the state to stand their ground and vote candidates of their choice and disregard any threat from Wike and his gangs.

“Let your heart not be troubled and vote massively for the Labour Party, LP, in Rivers State in order to liberate the state from the clutches of bondage and wickedness.”
