Waste-To-Wealth: NDE trains 30 Imo youths on basic skills

THE National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it has begun the training of 30 youths on basic skills for the conversion of waste to wealth in Imo.
The Director-General of the agency, Abubakar Nuhu-Fikpo, said this at the inauguration of the training in Owerri.
Nuhu-Fikpo, represented by the Co-ordinator of NDE in Imo, Mrs Chisara Egwim-Chima, said that the training was organised for beneficiaries of the Directorate’s Environpreneurship Development Scheme for year 2022.
Nuhu-Fikpo also said that the workshop was organised by the agency’s Department of Small Scale Enterprises (DSSE).
“The one-week training will equip the beneficiaries with requisite skills for conversion of disposed waste in their business environments to appreciable wealth.
“It will expose them not only to business skills but available sources of funding for start-up.
“NDE means well. This is why we have gone all the way to ensure that you get expert training for business growth.
“As our society continues to grapple with the difficulties associated with proper waste disposal, I urge you to contribute your quota to wealth creation, using disposable waste,” Nuhu-Fikpo said.
Also, the Director of DSSE, Mr Sunday Apakasa, thanked Nuhu-Fikpo and his management team for approving the workshop.
Apakasa, represented by a senior official of the department, Mr Ekawu Ogar, urged the beneficiaries to attach seriousness to the training so as to derive maximum benefit from it.
The Imo Coordinator of the National Productivity Centre, Mr Martins Okonkwo, advised the beneficiaries to be punctual to the training and also cooperate with the trainers.
Mrs Elizabeth Ogu, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked NDE for the opportunity and promised that they would make effective use of the knowledge garnered from the training. (NAN)
