Water-logged pitch: Bayern Munich’s Cup match in Saarbrücken to go ahead as planned
Sports
BAYERN Munich’s German Cup match at third-division Saarbrücken can take place as planned on Wednesday night after being in doubt for days over a water-logged pitch.
The German Football Federation (DFB) said that the referee gave the green light after an inspection in the morning.
Saarbrücken’s league match against Dynamo Dresen on Sunday was abandoned after the first half because of heavy rain and too much water on the pitch.
But big efforts from Saarbrücken ground staff and drier weather helped make the pitch playable again.
The DFB said the sold out match could now only be called off in the case of torrential rain which is not forecast. (dpa/NAN)
