We are making progress to restore power outages in Aba – APLE

THE Aba Power Ltd Electric (APLE), in Abia, the company in charge of Aba Power Integrated Project, said it was making progress to resolve power supply challenges in the industrial city of the state.
The APLE Managing Director, Mr Ugo Opiegbe made the plea in a statement he issued in Aba on Friday.
Opiegbe noted that the power shortage in the city was caused by gas shortages, acts of vandalism and the recent widespread power outage caused by TCN’s damaged line.
He said, “We understand the frustration and inconvenience that you may have experienced, especially with the recent power outages due to the damaged TCN line.
“Since our launch in February 2024, we have remained committed to providing reliable power to all our areas of coverage.
“Unfortunately, we have encountered significant challenges primarily due to persistent gas shortages, acts of vandalism, and the recent widespread power outage caused by TCN’s damaged line.
“We are actively working to address the issues by securing a stable gas supply and making progress with alternative gas suppliers to ensure uninterrupted power generation.
“We are strengthening our infrastructure and investing in enhanced security measures to protect our facilities from vandalism,” Opiegbe pledged.
The director said the company was working closely with relevant stakeholders to restore power supply soon and fortified the power infrastructure.
The company apologised for the hardship, the outages might have caused their customers in Aba and its environment.
“We sincerely apologize for any hardship the outages may have caused and we assure you that our team is working diligently to resolve these challenges.
“We are also monitoring TCN to ensure that they restore power supply as soon as possible this week.
“In the longer term, our goal is to conclude backup gas supply alternatives and restore optimal power supply by the end of September 2024,” he promised. (NAN)
