THE All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Caucus has pledged to mobilise 15 million votes for President Muhammadu Buhari if he decides to see re-election in 2019.
Mr. Haruna Okatahi made the pledge in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that the youth wing of the party had concluded arrangements to commence a nationwide house to house awareness campaign to showcase the achievements of the Buhari led administration since its inception.
He listed some of the achievements to include release of 106 Chibok school girls, arrest of Boko Haram members, as well as the recovery of 14 Local Government Councils and territories previously under Boko Haram control.
Haruna also listed other achievement to include the prevailing peace in the Niger Delta through consistent funding of the Federal Government amnesty programme for ex-militants and effective implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
According to him, the rousing reception Buhari enjoyed in Kano clearly shows that nobody can corrupt the minds of Nigerians about the agenda of his administration.
He commended Buhari for granting pardon to 500 inmates of the Kurmawa Central Prisons in Kano metropolis, adding that such gesture would go a long way in decongesting prisons in the country.
The youth leader, therefore, advised the affected inmates to be of good behaviour and shun anything that could bring them back to prison.
He also commended the people of Kano for their resilient, steadfastness and the show of love for the President, whom he described as the “most adorable politician in Nigeria’’.
“We the APC national youth caucus are proud of the tremendous achievements recorded by Buhari’s administration and are solidly behind him if he decides to re-contest in 2019.
“As part of efforts to ensure his victory in the 2019 general elections, we are going to commence a nationwide house to house awareness campaign to showcase his achievements with the sole aim of mobilising 15 million votes for him.’’
He, therefore, expressed confidence that the APC would remain the ruling party and return to power in 2019 because of its achievements.
The youth leader said the ruling party would continue to maintain its majority status in the legislative arm of government both at the federal and state levels.
