PATRICK Agha-Mba, the Transition Committee. TC, chairman, Onitsha North Local Government Area, has said his tenure will touch on some key areas that need special attention.

Agha-Mba said this during interactive session with newsmen in his office at the council headquarters, Onitsha.

According to him, his vision and mission for the council will aim at focusing on all interests, all segments of workers and ordinary residents of Onitsha, without discriminating against any group.

He said his tenure achieved a lot in Onitsha North, particularly, the provision of conducive environment for LG workers, inter-security watch that comprised the DSS, Civil Defence and the Immigration.

“The enabling environment we have created has helped us in securing life and property.”

The transition committee chairman noted he also established an ICT Centre at Imeobi, Onitsha that graduated no fewer than 49 ICT professionals so far.

“We have provided street lights in not less than 22 streets and lanes in Onitsha 1 and 11 constituencies as well as constructing five functioning boreholes.

“No fewer than 3,000 pupils were sponsored through Long Vacation Tutorial, LVT, in 2018; 60 youths were also trained in skills acquisition, and later empowered financially to set up businesses on their own,’’ he said.

Agha-Mba noted that the Skills Acquisition Centre was established and some tailors from Aba industrial city in Abia State, were engaged to train some youths on tailoring and bead-making.

He, then, commended Governor Willie Obiano for his support that enabled him to accomplish his visions in the commercial city.

“My major concern now as TC chairman is on how to tackle Onitsha perennial Street Trading at Ose and Ajasa Street markets, and as well to stop sabotage on extortions by those collecting illegal dues/levies from traders, purportedly on behalf of Government,” he added.
