OLADELE Amoda, the Chief Executive of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, says the company has metered over 60 per cent of its consumers. Amoda disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday.

He said that the company had over 600,000 consumers which included residential, barracks, industries and government agencies. The chief executive said the company installed over 100,000 prepaid meters between January and October.

Amoda said the company had just received another consignment of over 100,000 prepaid meters from its local meter manufacturer which would soon be given to some consumers. He promised that the company would give meters to all its consumers within the next two years as the company was working within the five years framework given by the regulator.

“The factors affecting massive installation of meters to consumers include the exchange rate of dollar, inflation and non-payment of bills. But all things being equal may be in the next two years, we will complete metering all consumers under our network. We are accelerating our activities so that we can meet the deadline given by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.” – Punch
