FEBRUARY 11th 2023 was a historic day for Lagos. The mega rally for His Excellency Peter OBI and Datti at the TBS. My report as an member of the Labour Party Advisory Board: Traffic was heavy to get from the Mainland to Lagos TBS; I was informed about ugly incidents in Lekki, Yaba and Surulere of cars and buses being attacked by APC tugs.
No billiards or pollsters advertising allowed for the Labour Party, but we got safely to TBS were a huge crowd was trying to get in.
Another wickedness, only on gate at the bus stop side was opened were one by one people had to squeeze into this half a million venue.
Aided by my police orderly and two officials I made it into the venue with my son, Kingsley. I got a seat backstage and then for the next 3 hours I shook hands with thousands, sat with my friends, PSquare and other celebrities until Peter OBI arrived around 4 pm.
I admire all OBIdients how they waited in the terrible heat of TBS singing, dancing, sharing water! I had never before experienced this kind of enthusiasm!
Datti spoke well, quoting Fela; the chieftain of Afenifere spoke about unity and to forget tribal disunity!
Then came the speech of all speeches by his Excellency Peter Obi! What a human being! Having already been to Alaba Market and two town hall meetings he looked fresh and well dressed. He spoke from his heart about progress for Nigeria, peace and unity.
This was one of my most memorable political events I have witnessed in my life. I had to leave in a hurry to reach Ikeja, the Marriott hotel for the Tribute Night of my friend, Peace Anyiam Osigwe to joined the Lord on the 7th of January. That will be another story.
Best wishes
