AFTER more than two days in kidnappers’ den, Toyin, wife of Steve Nwosu, deputy managing director of The Sun newspapers, was in the early hours of Thursday, September 17, regained her freedom.

Toyin was abandoned by her abductors at Festac First Gate, Amuwo Odofin, where the police recovered her at about 2:20am.

The victim had abducted by a nine-man heavily armed gang of kidnappers from her Ago Palace residence in Okota on Monday, September 14, at about 2:30am. She was whisked away in a speed boat, after robbing her family and two other houses.

At a point the kidnappers reportedly demanded for N100 million ransom for her freedom. But the husband cried out asking how they expected him to raise the money.

Fatai Owoseni, state commissioner of Police, who confirmed her release, said efforts were in top gear to arrest the suspects. Owoseni said: “Yes we rescued her at about 2:20am. The criminals left her at First Gate, Festac, where we were told to go and pick her up. No ransom was paid. I want to assure Lagosians that efforts are still on to arrest the suspect and bring them to justice.

“We are appealing for people to not hesitate in providing the police with useful information that will help in containing crime and criminality in the state,” he said.
